Hershey-Danville Climate Transect Interactive Report Prototype

A terrain-aware climate and hazard synthesis across the Hershey-to-Danville transect, including modern regime shifts, precipitation tails, compound hazards, terrain roles, frozen validation, teleconnections, and the Mahantango/WE-38 linkage.

Prototype v0.9.1. Android/local-file patched: data tables are embedded directly in this HTML so content:// paths do not block the dashboard. Because apparently even files need passports now.

Overview

18
analysis tests

From lapse rates and trend differentials to compound hazards and teleconnections.

1981-2025
core daily period

Daily PRISM-based transect analysis with longer context where available.

~75 km
transect length

Hershey to Danville across ridge-and-valley terrain.

v0.9
interactive prototype

Static HTML dashboard scaffold using local data assets.

Key Findings

Modern Event-Frequency Bootstrap Results

Bootstrap-corrected early-vs-modern event frequencies. Wide original CSVs are preserved in the package.

Compound Hazards

Compound class bootstrap table

Scoring weights

Terrain Roles

The terrain story is asymmetric: ridges buffer VPD much more than Tmax, while valleys amplify cold far more than heat.

Frozen Proxy Validation

Zone-level frozen proxy validation against ASOS weather-code confirmation. ASOS exposure mismatch is a built-in caveat, especially for ridge crests.

Corrected Teleconnections

Raw ENSO dominance collapsed after month-standardization and detrending. Robust corrected signals concentrate around PDO, AMO-like variability, AO, and NAO.

Mahantango / WE-38 Linkage

The WE-38 watershed provides nearby watershed-scale process evidence. The transect provides terrain-climate structure. Together they form a nested, multi-scale evidence chain.
