Pennsylvania’s 800 m radar beam landscape
Every included grid cell is evaluated against every WSR-88D station within the 460 km Level-II reflectivity range. Color shows beam geometry; texture redundantly shows 230 km core overlap. Click, tap, or use arrow keys to inspect the full beam stack in a cell.

The primary analytical layer is a dense Canvas raster because 183,349 DOM/SVG polygons would turn the browser into a small space heater. County lines and the selected cell remain vector-sharp; all values are recomputed locally from the embedded station metadata and the documented beam model.

Interpretation: “Extended” means the beam is geometrically within the 460 km reflectivity product range, not that it is useful low-level coverage. At the far edge it can be above much of the troposphere. The height table is AMSL and does not include local terrain or blockage.
The inclusive station inventory
All 23 stations below reach at least one grid centroid. The first percentage is the more useful 230 km core share; the second is the inclusive 460 km reflectivity share.

What the model measures—and what it does not
The grid is 800 m square in EPSG:5070 and includes cells whose centroids fall inside the 2025 Census 1:500,000 Pennsylvania polygon.
The beam is modeled at 0.5° with a 0.95° half-power width and a standard 4/3-effective-Earth-radius atmosphere.
Bottom, center, and top are AMSL after adding the NCEI station elevation. Vertical thickness is top minus bottom; diameter is the nominal cross-beam width.
No DEM, AGL conversion, beam blockage, clutter, anomalous propagation, outages, or time-varying scan strategy is included.
The complete 2,240,902-row cell–radar table is supplied separately as compressed CSV.
