Why does the degree conversion change across the state?
If you work with fixed metric grids (like PRISM 4km or Daymet 1km), the physical height and width remain constant squares. But on a map coordinate system, it takes more degrees of longitude to cover 4 km up north than it does down south because longitude lines pinch together near the North Pole.
